Danakil Depression Day 4
Waking up from the last night in Danakil was a little sad. I wish I could have stayed longer. Anyhow, today we left Earth. I think we might have been on Mars.. or possibly some other planet. It was definitely not planet Earth, and this is why:

Sulphur lakes was the main destination today. The color and terrain was indescribable. It was also in the middle of NOWHERE. And sitting for the photo above - ow! Needles in the bum, that's for sure. I haven't really written much about this experience, but that is because it was so indescribable. So check out the gallery from Danakil Depression instead. I am so lost for words for an experience so incredible.

After, again, being one of the last people to leave the sulphur lakes, we took a little road trip out to the salt "mountains". If you ask me it looked extremely sculpted. Nature is quite the artist.

Then on the way to the place the workers were mining the salt, we stopped by a Potassium lake as well. Locals said it was good for the skin and what not. So we put some on our hands and arms. It felt like warm oil, and for a second I forgot that Potassium is still very much a type of salt.
The soccer I had played with the boys yesterday had resulted in me running by some branches, thus having a pretty big cut on my arm. Oh the burn of Potassium. Its really worse than ocean salt water that I think we've all experienced swimming in with a cut here and there.
From there on out till the workers mining salt, and back to camp, we enjoyed the wind in our hair from the roof of the car. I mean what is there really to hit out here anyways? I doubt there are very many traffic accidents.
We then embarked on the journey back to Mekelle, and from there a plan to Addis. Spa & shopping days here we come! But if it were up to me I wouldn't mind another day out in this insanely addictive environment. Something about it is just so intriguing!
